NSFW Feral Policy

Recommended Posts

  • Staff Team

After taking time to create and consider a poll of user opinions, staff have come to the conclusion that we must enforce a ban on feral animal NSFW content. In order to best serve the results of the poll, and our own views as a team, we believe it is most useful, at the moment, to ban all depictions of real life animals in porn. This is directly in line with our current policy regarding cub content as well, as we believe there are some minimum standards necessary to protect our user base from harmful paraphilias.

What is a "real life" animal, you say? And what circumstances will art of it removed from the website?

  • Real life animal is defined as any creature found in our world, extinct or still present, in their natural bodily shape.

Even if these real life animals are weird colors or supposedly capable of speech/transformation/whatever cool magical stuff in their individual lore, please do not depict their animal forms in sexual situations. Realistic animals/creatures in tv and movies are included in this (i.e. Lion King, Balto, etc.), as their animal forms are not meaningfully changed in any way in their media and they are still actively acknowledged as real life animals (as per the examples: lion, wolfdog, etc). Even if a real life animal is given a not-real-life quality, such as wings or horns, so long as they retain their natural real life shape they are still, effectively, animals.

Not all animals are quadrupedal, so we cannot define animals thusly (think kangaroos, or snakes). This is why we are focusing on "natural body type" instead of trying to make an arbitrary judgment that doesn't even fit everything in the animal kingdom.

We understand animal characters can have a lot of different personal lore to them, and that lore can suggest a great many different things about their origins, sentience & capability, but we want to be as precise as possible regarding specific intolerance of animals in sexual situations.

Prohibited sexual situations include feral animals engaging in sexual conduct with each other OR with anthros/humans/fantasy creatures/etc.

What isn’t a "real life" animal?

  • High fantasy creatures (such as dragons),
  • furry anthro characters with animal traits (we mean anthro in the traditional sense within the fandom: a human-like animal person, with clear human-looking traits. we know "anthropromorphic" is a broader term than just how a creature looks, so we are focusing pretty specifically.),
  • cartoony anthro characters (not everyone likes to draw every character with absolute anatomical correctness, after all), mythological monsters (with discretion),
  • aliens,
  • cryptids,
  • fantasy media IPs (like Pokemon, Digimon, completely fabricated creatures with unique lore. This includes established fantasy series like My Little Pony (the adult characters ONLY) because they are a unique species with unique lore.),
  • and animal media IPs if their canon forms are changed to a furry anthro character.
  • Currently, we are also choosing to include dinosaurs in this category. This is not because they weren’t real, but because they are so extinct that there is no modern creature that replicates them and no human in history ever interacted with one. (Dinosaurs are the ONLY extinct species permitted.)

We will not be moderating the features of these fantasy creatures that are clearly not real life animals. Furry anthros with animal genitalia (knots, etc) will not be subject to a ban. We understand there are a myriad of different kind of characters, many of which bear ostensibly no resemblance to real life creatures, that borrow some animal traits. This is fine, and we cannot pick and choose which specific traits are "too" animal. In a similar vein, though some fantasy media creatures like Pokemon may clearly be inspired by animals, we cannot discount that their lore is so diverse and they do not even share names with real life creatures.

We understand that there is nuance and concern regarding feral in terms of these excluded categories, and we take those concerns very seriously even if we feel that they won’t be included in “real animal nsfw”. These distinctions are meant to be as unambiguous as possible, to best protect folks as well as not have to create a massive spreadsheet of what creatures are and are not supposedly okay for sexualization. These choices do not mean that people aren't free to have a variance of opinion, we simply, at this time, cannot enforce rules that are not as clear as possible.

Sexualizing real creatures from our world is unacceptable to us, even if someone has a wolf character with a sparklepelt and wings. To most allow people to know exactly what we are moderating, we have to acknowledge that we cannot regulate fantasy and media species that are not as easily identified.

Staff retain discretion in carrying out this rule. If the need arises, we can revisit this topic with the user base in the future, as we know there are many opinions and many concerns. Everyone has different experiences in this fandom and not every individual’s characters or habits are indicative that they themselves are a zoophile. People have varied degrees of comfort, which is absolutely understandable, and personal characters are personal for a reason. We sympathize, and reiterate that there are other services and platforms that cater to any and all animal nsfw. Here at FLO, we want this ruling to help address issues that have become all the more prominent after the Zoosadist leaks and similar events.

This will be a learning process for everyone. We hope this ruling is true to the poll and that we have a policy capable of more consistently removing zoophilic content, fetishization of animals & bestiality from the website as a whole.

Apologies for the wall of text! This will be the staff's policy moving forward in regards to "feral nsfw".

There's really no reason to ban this, but this is your site, so whatever. I guess that means there'll be quite a drop in population from now on.

This is a conversation that is not constructive and rather focusing on insulting individuals and trying to justify the sexualization of children. As a consequence, we have to lock.

Gonna go ahead and say this is for the better.

But I would like to add this - do taurs count as fantasy creatures even though they are half-anthro and half-feral? Not that I would ever post NSFW content of taur fursonas like mine. I'm assuming since they do not exist in thee real world, that makes them fantasy.

I'd say taurs fall into the "high fantasy" category in the 'not "real life" animals' category, but i don't wanna put words in the staff's mouth

I'm pretty sure taurs would count as a high fantasy creature. A centaur would come under that banner so I don't see why other taurs wouldn't.

Taurs count as fantasy creatures! Same as things like Minotaurs, Sphinx, etc etc. All of these are half-human monsters that fit into the fantasy category of unmoderated.

This is a very fair policy, thank you so much - and double thanks for making it clear and ambiguous.

the clarifications were all i personally wanted. the original poll that spawned all this made things seem very vague

It will even out with people who avoided other sites because of the feral porn, I'm sure.

thank yall for going through with this decision! and while i do personally believe that some of the allowed categories are still not acceptable, i am happy with this ruling, and i understand that the mods have a lot on their plates and may not be able to deal with everything at once. this is not an easy conversation to have, but this ban was definitely the best course of action. thank you for being one of the first furry-based sites i've seen to take a loud stance against drawn zoophilia
