Progressive in relation to what? What historical point is it anchored to?
One could make the same argument with regards to conservativism. It wouldn't surprise me if that particular axis pertains to the desire for change vs the desire for things to remain the same within what we consider modernity, and to what degree.

I vaguely recall from elsewhere that this axis actually extends from reactionary to radical - reactionaries wanting a throwback state, conservatives wanting the status quo, progressives wanting gradual change, and radicals wanting immediate and, well, radical change.

@Midnight Animals Look I'm gonna drop all pretenses, I'm tired. Very tired and feeling sick, so I don't have the energy to write a well managed reply. It feels like you're making a lot of assumptions about my stances on things and it feels like you're fixating on those assumptions rather than having a conversation with me. All of the points that I've been bringing up have been in relation to "how does x system handle y problem" is completely detached from current systems, because the current systems don't handle them in any way and I'd like to know how people would go about fixing it other than "just hope for the best." I ask "what's done with people who can't safely operate in society" because I and other people have violent abusers who ~pwomise to be bettew~ and keep doing the same shit they've always been doing. I have and know of multiple rapists that have hurt numerous people, and are still continuing to hurt people because there's nothing to stop them more than temporarily. Prisons don't solve that, police don't help and aren't willing to help, I want to know if proposed systems that come after police and prison abolition would. Prisons and police only serve to hurt vulnerable people and make violent abusers more violent. I want to know how people who've been failed by current systems would be helped in others. I want to know what will be changed and not told "lol you're watching too many cop dramas, you're overthinking it" like the FAQ you linked.

I'm not in any way opposed to any specific system (except the current capitalist hellscape and worse facism,) if they happen they happen, I just want to know how people plan to handle problems that aren't being addressed now by current systems or in the hypotheticals I've been told. I want to know how harm can be minimized. I will definitely do more more reading, but what I keep getting told by everyone is "no your concerns don't matter and aren't real, shut up and listen" without listening to what I'm actually saying either. I don't have the energy to argue endlessly when all I want is a conversation that acknowledges me as an equal instead of an enemy because I want to know more than what I'm being told. I want to know where to find answers to the questions that I have instead of being told that my questions aren't relevant because they are, just not in the ways that people assume right off the bat when I ask these questions. I don't want to know how systems would be 1-to-1 swapped out, I want to know how problems will be fixed, not just the surface level shit but everything.

I know a lot of this is disjointed and rambling, the tl;dr is I hate the current systems and want better, nobody's willing to talk to me about how things will be better, just that they will be and I need to sit aside and watch.

gonna bump this thread with what i think is the funniest (and by absolutely no means the best) political spectrum test i've ever taken, which is politicalsextant purely because of the range of ideologies you can get as results: http://politicalsextant.com/

here is my fairly boring set of results, which i would say are fairly accurate despite the fact that i think this test is really stupid lmao

What on earth is Paleoconservatism?
people who are fascists but who are too afraid to label themselves that way. i have literally never met or seen a paleoconservative who didn't believe in white supremacism in some form or another, and the most famous paleocon is pat buchanan who is probably an antisemite and basically ran on what trump did 30 years before trump (and got called out for doing so back then by trump, weirdly enough).

Please feel free to discuss the accuracy of the test with me. I personally felt it was accurate, and yet it also wasn’t simultaneously lol

here's a question for all the people who answered leftist that i don't want to make another thread for but which i also think is usually good for fleshing out ideological leaning:

should the left engage in active electoral organization? (as in, either organizing running leftist candidates on a leftist party ticket in elections, or engaging in entryism and using the political structure of an already existing party to achieve electoral success)

I'd prefer entryism of those 2, as my most favourite method would be running independent, so it would be the next best thing, like how Aria Dimezzo won the GOP nomination for sheriff of Cheshire County, NH via entryism. I'm surprised she even made it so far lol, but it worked
